All of our attempts to be good through good behavior is just the seeking of praise.

Being good means that our character (or being) is good, not just what we do. We must not only do the right thing, we must do the right thing for the right reason. Our love for self praise and the praise of others is not a right reason. Our fear of punishment is not the right reason. Neither fear nor reward of any type can be the right reason.

The right reason is that we see our relationship to others as an "I - Thou" instead of an "I - it". We can only do that through the understanding that we are all brothers and sisters with one Father/God. That understanding erodes the barrier between me and my neighbor.

Of course we can be good. Jesus said to be perfect as the Father. Being good is inherently difficult because we are given temptations to choose to be good and we succumb to the temptations because we are weak.

Man is intrinsically born innocent = GOOD. It's society and the external influences of mankind that corrupts, and turn man into something . . . . NOT SO GOOD anymore!

We can be, but it wouldn't replace God. We need god to guide us in the right direction.

Because man is inherently evil. And if someone says man is innocent until society corrupts him, then what corrupts society? Society is just a large group of human beings- which one will say were all born innocent, so what corrupted society? To say man is innocent until corrupted by society is circular reasoning. Man is evil.
