Darwins book was called "On the origin of species by means of natural selection". Darwin had no clue as to genetics and in now way went into any detail of genetics in this book!

Mutation is not the cause of evolution. Mutation is a cause of genetic variation. Genetic variation is the fodder of the natural selection can act upon. Natural selection is a two step process. First genetic variation must exist (of which mutation is only one way of getting it) and second it must be selected against. Darwins view of evolution is based on descent with change.

What you are asking about good will is just confusing but I would suggest you look at evolution of social behaviour, that may offer some answers for you.

I don't really understand your question but I'll give it a whirl. Yes you could say that "mutation is the cause of evolution." but I wouldn't really define the process as evolution after all its the survival of the fittest and adaptation. In darwin's book origins of species he goes to describe how the genetic mutation in animals is caused throughout a long period of time to help certain species survive and adapt. I don't know much about the topic since I'm not a geneticist or biologist.

As for you second question, the reason why we don't see it in history used for good will is because genetic mutation and "evolution" is a slow process and sometimes can take up to a century to develop.

It is natural selection of the organism best suited to survive and reproduce in a given environment.
