A very good question i would say!
And i hope you understand what i say to you here....
An Infinate Number can Be defined as a number that cannot be counted........
If you make a 1 cm line in a paper, you could say there arent infinite nos of dots in this line because it ends after 1 cm....... but u could not be able to count the dots....
Pi is before infinaty because it ends somewhere!

Pi has an infinite amount of DECIMALS. These are terms after the decimal point. Thus while it's terms go on forever it is certain smaller than an inifite number of finite numbers like anything greater than 4.
It is also less than an infiniite number of irrational numbers like sqrt(10) or 2e.

pi = 3.14XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX the infinite digits of pi are after the decimal which just reflects its accuracy not its size. infinity represent a very large number that cannot be represented because what ever the largest number you can think of is I can come up with one that is at least one more than it. so it refers to size not accuracy.
