Intelligent is like everything at the top; it is lonely. The higher up the proverbial ladder you go in any endeavour the greater the likelihood that you leave those you achieved less behind.

Therefore since "intelligent" is the higher form of human thought capability it is higher up on the thinking ladder and therefore leaves behind those that are average or less than average.

As a result, there is a potential for loneliness there.

God know I am. LOL

I do a lot of times. I feel that our population is becoming so unintelligent. I hang out with my intelligent people/friends and I do tend to correct those who use words incorrectly, misspell words, teach others incorrect things. They get angry sometimes. I'm just trying to help. They shouldn't be embarrassed but welcome the help they receive. Peoples' pride is too great and if it is hurt by a simple correction they get so defensive. I try not to correct to the point of annoying. I'm not a know-it-all by any means. I just don't want the world to be any dumber than it has to be.

The one above me has a good point. Most of us do have a great sense of humor.

Only if those around you are not intelligent. If you surround yourself with friends of equal intelligence then its far from lonely, indeed its highly stimulating and challenging.

Well, i suppose it will depend on
1) whether there are people with similar interests around for him/her to make friends with
2) whether he/she is able to communicate outside of his/her zone of interest/intellegence
3) flexible enough to enjoy conversations/hanging out with friends without always trying to correct people all the time and making the other feel mentally challenged

But if it is intellegence + snobbish / arrogance, then yep, it will be very lonely

No. If someone is intelligent they have only to surround themselves with like minded people. It used to be difficult, but with the internet it's not so hard anymore.

Depends on who you surround yourself with. Intelligence is a very relative thing.

I do not agree. "Intelligence" can be lonely, but not "intelligent" people.
