It is a piece that is meant to sound something like Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man". My guess is that it was written especially for this occasion.

The Fanfare for the Common Man (musicians sometimes call it the fanfare for the common cold) was written in 1942 I believe. It was commissioned by conductor Eugene Goosens who said in a letter to Copland that the new music would be premiered "Around income tax time." Copland wrote back that he was "all in favor of honoring the common man at income tax time!"

The fanfare also comprises the 4th movement of Copland's 3rd symphony.

However, the music on the Youtube presentation isn't Copland. I dont know what it is but sounds like possibly John Williams. It is, in my opinon, very good and appropriate for the drama of the olympics.
