Hip Hop is not dead.

The more pop/mainstream rap goes, the more I see truly talented artists get pushed to the side for fools like Lil' Wayne, and Jeezy. There's a few reasons for this.

First, there are too many sellout rappers who are willing to say anything on the mic, and promote the worst stereotypes just to get a check. Second, the music companies market this stuff like that. They think sex and drama make for better sales than just putting out a good album. Third, you also have to blame the fans too for buying this stuff because if they didn't then the music execs and sellout rappers wouldn't have jobs.

Real Hip Hop is alive and well, but you won't find it on BET/MTV, or hear it on the radio. And Hip Hop will never die as long as the culture is alive.

**To answer the question above this post: If a rapper wrote about money, hoes and the rest of that stuff I still wouldn't feel him no matter how well he wrote it, unless he had more to talk about. There's a whole world out there besides that played out bling bling b/s. Why not flow about it?**

These days the beat makes the rapper. Back in the 80ies' the rapper made the beat. Most of rap died with 2Pac. There still a few artist out here that can create a song that has meaning, but they are growing extinct like dinosaurs. Now the South have created an hip-hop counter-culture, which is just full of bass-beats and hooks, no substance. That's what i believe Nas was saying in "hip-hop is dead". Now the Northern rappers aren't seeing the $ signs they once did, so there starting to copy the Souths trendy style (Mims, Casidy) which is worsening the music.
Now all rappers do are free promotions in there lyrics for Alcohol brands, Cigar brands, and cell phone brands, and clubs! That then starts a trend across the country to boost sales of those products and the rappers doesn't receive jack. Fools!

For me Go-Go and Funk4lyfe

When I hear people ask this question, I kinda know where they're coming from because let's face it, most rappers nowadays are just shite. But this doesn't answer the question....

I know hip hop is still alive.

When I wake up in the morning and don't want to do anything else but get on the turntables and scratch the f*ck out of Super Duck Breaks over the 'Paid in Full' beat, that is hip hop.

When me and my friends go out and party and on the way home we sit at the bus stop beatboxing and freestyling, that is hip hop.

When I go to an open-mic night, and hear some young kid rhyming his/her *** off, that is hip hop.

When I walk down the street and I see a group of kids poppin' and break-dancin on the corner, or when I see the graffers sprayin their throw up, that is hip hop.

Hip hop is a way of life, a culture. It's when you forget this and only listen to 50 Cent drawling on the radio that it seems like hip hop is dead.
To be honest, I'm glad there are these cr*p rappers nowadays, because it seperates the real from the fake.

Just remember to keep your head underground

**PS, in response to Sarah R; Jay Z is a prick and Kanye couldn't save 10p

HOW could hip-hop be dead and I'm typin' right now?LOL
In all seriousness though, like the fist person said, you gotta search hard but hip-hop is alive. Hear's a perfect example......Hip-hop is like some real fat paralyzed guy. If he doesn't lose weight or we don't get the proper tools, we won't find the pulse showing that he is still alive. To me the real question is "How long does hip-hop have left?" It's not quite done yet!

basically 2% of mainstream artist are hip-hop the rest are Hip-POP the rest are underground, that's have been the subculture of hip-hop is and the music. Its not ineffective, its buried alive and you're able to locate it simply by fact that maximum elderly college artist are turning wack to slot in and make money. Eminem is a good modern-day occasion his first albums have been particularly sturdy and now its only cheesy pop music with mediocre lyrics you assume from a 13 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous rapping.

Hip-Hop is A Life Style That Consists Of 2 Types of Music. Rap and R&B. Hip-Hop Is The Way You Live. Hip-Hop has nothing to do with how good, bad, or stupid a song is.

hip hop that means something is on its death bed but not dead. in my honest opinion hip hop these days does nothing but make us black people look stupid and ignorant. I love hip hop it is my favorite genre of music as a matter of fact I'm a producer, i just wonder what happened to the days when rap used to scare people into doing something positive for their community? where did real hip hop go? and why are the young black teenagers falling into the hip hop trap?

Mainstream hip hop is why we do not have a black president today. Why? it is because hip hop is where white people are getting their black stereotypes from. I love hip hop but mainstream hip hop is embarrassing us black people today, but many fall into the trap and do not see that. Not only that but many young black men are emulating what they see on hip hop videos and perpetuating the same cycles of ignorance, violence, gang activities, and drugs. This stinks because this adds to the mentality of young african americans that the only way to make it out of the hood is to rap or be an athlete.

Hip hop is not dead but it is sure killing the black community.Hip hop is why we stuck in the hood

please stop listening to garbage and listen to some real rappers. PLEASE!!!!!!!

Hip-Hop is not dead... Its just become dull and rather complacent. It is in need of a revival.

It seems to me that all of these new artists just want money. But I am convinced that if these new kids actually put effort into their music, they could use some talent that may be lying dormant within them.

I have a question for everyone here though:

Let's just say there is a rapper who wriets about money, women, cars, drungs, gangs, crime, violence, etc but his lyrics are amazing. Is he a good rapper because of his natural talent, or a bad rapper due to him glorifying these aspects?

I dont think hip hop is dead... however it is very hard to find. Mainstream hip hop is definetly dead, back in the day the best hip hop was mainstream hip hop, now hip hop is too commercial and fake. But if u search for hip hop, it is alive!
