I've been experiencing hotflashes--in my leg! It's very sporadic and lasts less than a minute each time. At first i was joking that someone must have a voodoo doll of me and they're dangling it over a flame but now that it's happened several times (always the same spot) I am wondering if it could be a sign of poor blood circulation in that leg.
I'd hate to dismiss something potentially dangerous but it seems like such an odd symptom, it's hard to take it seriously. Thoughts anyone??? Thanks!

Sorry to let you down, SteveD! :)
I suppose "40yr old woman blames voodoo curse for her burning leg" might have been an attention getter too.
As for the skin turning color, I don't think so. It usually happens when I'm in the middle of something (washing dishes, carrying groceries, sitting at the computer...) and since it comes and goes so quickly, I haven't really been able to check it out with my eyes. I've touched it to see if it feels warm but it's not---only inside, on my calf/shin area.
Thanks for everyone's comments!

Please get it checked out by your Doctor.
your leg is getting hot, it is also hot to the touch and does it go red in appearance?
if so it could be a DVT, and will require urgent attention.
Now, i am NOT a Doctor, But i am a Nurse, and i have seen too many people spending a long time ill in hospital because they didn't feel ill enough to see their Doctor initially. And unfortunately a former colleague didn't go to see the Doctor when she had similar symptoms to you. The first health care professional she "saw" was the bloke who did her post mortem.
i am not saying this to scare you. only to illustrate the importance of your symptoms. Please don't wait, see your Doctor. it could just be nothing then again it could be something and untill you get it looked at, you won't know.

It could be a DVT?deep vein thrombosis which normally presents as pain and heat in the leg. usually in the calf.you need to see a doc and have some simple blood tests done(D dimer, clotting factors etc)if it is a DVT it is easily curable, however, if left untreated can be potentially dangerous. so go to doctors as soon as you can.

Sounds good eh?? You have 'hot legs'.....just what you want to hear when you're 20! Seriously, I had something similar, but not so much hot, as tingly.......and it happened in flushes (as we British call them!) I would ask your doctor -just to be on the safe side.

If I were you I'd get it checked with the doctor. It could be many things, and you'll never know unless you seek help.
