I suggest checking out tutorialtastic's basic HTML article:
http://tutorialtastic.co.uk/tutorial/basic_html_paragraphs_headers_and_links

And then, go on to the rest of its articles.

If you know them and sill can't find what you're looking for, look it up at http://w3schools.com or http://alistapart.com
(the latter requires you to be proficient in XHTML/HTML).

It helps to have a good book, like Mastering HTML Visually.

However, what I would recommend is to view the source of other people's web pages, or you can type up a document in Word and save it as HTML and then view it.

Go here:

http://mybranding.info/free_templates.php

Download one that is broadly as you like it and then learn your HTML and CSS by making the modifications that you need.

Whilst training is always useful - actual practical experience invariably does you better. You will need to spell and type accurately though - it won't work otherwise!
