If the Israeli's do in fact ever move their governments capital to Jerusalem then other country's will follow. I think it all comes down to a matter of safety. Jerusalem is a much easier target than where the government now meets. Jerusalem is also the power base and shared capital of the Palestinians whom Israel is fighting with over the land. There would be peace and a shared capital if not for right wing members from both sides. Israel has offered peace only to be bombed by Hamas and other groups that do not have the best interests of the Palestinians at heart. They want the nation of Israel gone and all of the power of the area so it to can be driven into the ground much like that of Iran.

Mark, I all ready answered this.

Every nation that has diplomatic relations with Israel recognizes Jerusalem (West Jerusalem if it makes you feel better) as the capital of Israel.

I challenge you to name a single EU nation that has publicly stated that the capital of Israel is not Jerusalem.

I told you how you can convince me, give me the quote of a an individual who represents any EU government which states that Jerusalem is not the capital of Israel.

Also if west Jerusalem is "occupied" then who is it occupied from? Who else besides Israel has a recognised claim over it? If your answer is no one then Israel has every right to claim it as their capital.
