Few people carry cameras. Many people that carry mobile phones never use the camera in them.

The photo may well not have helped but by noting the vehicle number and making the report immediately the evidence on the table used was preserved. Not just DNA on the straw but the fingerprints of the adults.

The likelihood is that this is a false sighting. There must be millions of young girls who look very similar to Madeleine.

Its easy to look at a situation and say how it should have been handled, when you are in the situation it is different. The lady in question did take action which is something to be thankful for, hopefully it will be beneficial. The reasons for not taking a photo could be many, not thinking/panic, fear of drawing attention and therefore putting herself and if it was Maddie in further danger, as already said perhaps not having camera/phone with camera and so on. Please god if it was Maddie she is found and is safe and well!

How many 3 and 4 year old girls look like Madeleine? 10000's......

If I was out for dinner and someone started taking photos of my children they wouldn't make it out - not becuase I have anything to hide but in this day and age no one is getting away with taking photos of my child.

That is a very good point. But you have to be 100% sure it was her or you could be taken up for kidnapping. I would have phone the police and keep close by not to lose track of them.

Yeah right!
As if she'd actually have thought of that, and if she did have a camera with her which may not have been the case, what's she gonna say? Smile while I take a photo of this little girl that I think is Madeline McCann and you are her kidnappers!
Sorry to sound rude but I don't think so!!
This little girl, if still alive would not be out in public with her kidnappers !
I think it has been a false claim or a mistake.

That's the first thing I mentioned on another post. A professional woman is likely to have a mobile phone, if not, I'm sure someone around her would have done.

Or, take a car number. She obviously wasn't careful enough. All this publicity is merely warning the kidnappers and encouraging them to move on.

Why did she not call the Police and keep them under observation while updating the Police until they arrived?

what for? to show her parents? To take a photo would have alerted the people she was with (if it was her) and they could have killed her to get rid of the evidence.
