imagine 2 mouths and 1 ear then we eat more or while eating we talk or everyone would be talking and no one will be listening
It is perfect for looks with 2 ears and a mouth well balanced

Balance - - - one eye & ear both sides the mouth in the middle, the mouth to digest food & water, making noise is entirely superfulous - - - but yes listening and learning is way more important that pontificating / speechifng. In truth we need not speak at all - - - listening is good enough for survival.

We have two ears because that way we can tell which way sounds are coming from more efficiently as a tool of survival... however we only need one mouth to eat!

the proverb is silly!

Being able to tell where a sound is coming from was vital for survival in primitive times - telling where danger or prey lay ahead, for instance. For that two receivers of sound are necessary, not two sources.

We do have two mouths. At least that's the impression I get from the amount of people I run into who speak out of their A**holes.

We developed that configuration to survive. It stemmed from the hunting part of the hunter gatherer stage.

The limbs /appendages that were most needed came in twos, such as arms, legs, eyes, and ears.
