I think that women want a mixture of the two. A lover when it is just them and the family but we still have some of those animalistic urges that want a male who can stand up and protect the territory and mate from advisarys.

Depends on the woman. But, out of experience, I have to say women love lovers. Woman love to love and love to be loved.
