Many devices can still work on USB1, albeit using a slow transfer rate. Did the box or guides say specifically that USB2 is required.? Then plugging a USB2 hub onto a USB1 port WON'T work.
If you are okay with installing PCI cards, then the easiest solution would be to get and install a USB 2.0 PCI card. They are fairly inexpensive but make a world of difference in transfer speed.

You can upgrade to USB 2.0 if you have an empty PCI slot on your motherboard. They come with 2 or 4 USB inputs. I have noticed that many on the new devices can be used on USB 1.1 and USB 2.0, but they will run slower of USB 1.1. With these USB PCI cards, they come with its drivers in case if you need them to get the board operationing properly. In most cases with Windows XP SP2 you may not need their software drivers, its has it's own drivers.
Watch for the systems specifications that are required for these cards and check to see in your computer meets those requirements.
I hopes this helps you.

i'm assuming which you have a USB a million.0 port to which the printer is linked. many of the hot printers won't paintings on a USB a million.0, yet maximum are circulate nicely suited. What i'd advise is to place in a multi USB 2.0 port into your laptop. The USB 2.0 is swifter connection. in case you are able to run XP, your laptop could accommodate this improve. they are obtainable at Wal-Mart or othe laptop shops for form of $25 and would actual be put in via taking the conceal off the laptop, etc.. you have a bad USB port on your laptop - this happens additionally. i be conscious of the Lexmark Z730 prefers if no longer demands the USB 2.0. i'm no longer conscious of the Z611. i'm hoping this facilitates.

Most companies have drivers that will work with USB1. Go to each website find the support for the device and download the win 2000 driver. Haven't seen any that are not backwards compatible.

i don't understand what usb 1 and usb 2 is? Is it usb 1.1 and usb 2.2? If that's the case, buy a usb 2.0 hub and plug it into your computer. then plug the devices into the hub. Then try it.

I would recommend that you can buy a PCI card with USB 2.0 ports in it.

Please excuse me but my experience with this problem is that you will get a warning that it would perform better with 2.0 they will still work with your current USB, it will be slower but acceptable as long as transfers are not very large
