Nylander's contract is a little long, but otherwise HUGE improvements. I'm really excited for Poti and everyone else I can't Wait for the season to start.
noname-man get the hell out no one wants you here. why do you feel the need to bash the Caps it's not like we bash your team. Plus we've had nothing to cheer about since we traded Jagr why do you need to cut us down the second something good happens?

The Capitals did well in the off-season. I still think they need to address their goaltending situation however. Kolzig isn;t going to last forever and Brent Johnson hasn't been able to play as a consistent #1 goaltender since 2001-02.
The defence has improved slightly with the addition of the US Olympian Poti, but it stull a far cry from a great defence corps.
The forwards on the other hand received a huge jolt with the additions of Kozlov and Nylander. Nylander is the offensive counterpart that Ovechkin needs, and will only make Ovechkin better. An Ovechkin, Nylander, Clark/Kozlov line combined with a Semin, Backstrom, Clark/Kozlov line will break up the defensive assault from other teams enabling the Caps to score a few more goals

Their offseason was certainly a step in the right direction, but the Caps are nowhere near the team they should be. I desperately want to see Ovechkin get some tallent around him so he can reach his full potential. Poti, Kozlov, Nylander, and maybe even Backstrom (if he goes straight to the NHL) will help a ton on offence, but it is a still a one or two line team with very little scoring depth and a poor defence. There are still a few old vets on the market that, if the caps were smart, they would offer a short term contract to in an attempt to get a little depth and create a valid 2nd scoring line. Bondra is still a free agent and I would love to see him retire a Cap.
The 2nd line isn't the key tho, I'm a Wings fan and they didn't have a 2nd line all last year and still tied for league lead in points. The big difference is that the Wings have defence and depth, two things the Caps need to work on.

I think the Caps made a big mistake by signing Nylander for so much cash. He is a middle of the road player that rose several levels only because of the chemistry with Jagr and Straka. I'm sure Caps management signed him hoping for the same output, thinking it was Nylander himself and not the line's chemistry that got him his stats. If I was a Cap fan, I'd be praying the same spark can happen with Ovechkin.

I think they did very well in the offseason even though they missed out on alot of good free agents they still got some decent players . They had to do something or they weren't gonna go anywhere at all this year. With the signings of nylander, poti and kozlov and backstrom playing this year i think in my opinion they are going to make the Playoffs for sure. I'm pretty excited actually cus....welll.... Caps are my fav. team so i'm a little bias, lol.

Besides going back to the red white and blue jerseys, the caps offseason has been pretty uneventful.
The biggest signing was Nylander - ok, he did great with jagr but ovechkin will be a different challenge. I dont see them gellin' like nylander did in NY.

I think they have definitely made improvements. Hopefully they can do better than last in their division and 14th in their conference this season.
I love the new jersey design too. I just wish I could have won one when the local radio station was giving away passes to the Caps draft day/jersey unvieling party which included one of the new jerseys.

They made signings? ZING!!
Seriously, Clarke re-signed, Nylander signed, I think they'll be a much better team this year than...well, previous years. Whether or not they'll make the playoffs is still up in the air for me.
