I'm mostly interested in responses from people who identify themselves as democrat or republican.

There is ONE party now in America the CORPORATE party.

The children of the elite become wealthy and the childern of the average Americans go fight and die in their wars.

In response to your question I think America is better run by the people.

Remember the way Americans used to think:

Government is the servent of the people,

The Gov't should fear the people NOT the other way around,

Freedom is not OLIGARCHY

The Us runs better when one party isn't in control. Look at the Clinton Adminstration. A lot got done. Things were accomplished even a surplus. The republicans were in control of congress at that time. Look at what's happen under total republican control run away spending ect. If it was total democrat control it would still be run away spending ect. There needs to be checks and balance. Best way to do that is to split the control. At the very worst nothing gets accomplished and it becomes a lame duck congress. AT best they work together on what's best for the nation, not what's best for their party.
Actually it might be best if next election an Independant wins. Just so the two party system starts to wish up and listen to the people who put them in office.

Great question! Thus far, there has been one primary party running things; and it was the Republican party. Since the Democrats caught up with some legislative pull in the recent elections, it has been an ongoing debate on which primary party should lead...

My thoughts are that two parties can lead the path toward a more Democratic society, once each understands each others points and conservative views...the ultimate factor is what the American public needs, not what they feel to be their way. Thus far, this has been the case...great open-ended question...truly debatable!

Take care and be Safe...(smiles)

I got to tell you I'm a yellowdog never voted republican never will. I use to be more open minded but GW changed that.
Our system work well enough, but more can be accomplished with one party in control. As long as it's the right one. Thanks to GW our next president will be a Democrat, and probably a majority in both houses.
The only Republican with an outside chance is Ron Paul.

The US runs better when We, the People, ensure that our laws are followed by EVERYONE, inclusing the elected officials.

Registered Democrat, Independent Voter, Centrist Nature.

I agree with Ron Paul. Corporate interests rule America it doesn't matter at this point if it is Democrats or republicans, their asses have been sold.

well different parties create gridlock, inability to act. same party, really corrupt policies get through - iraqi war, tax cuts for oil companies, etc

Grid lock is best. The less "helping the people" they can do the better.
