Not in the least bit. But it is used by those people who make life easy for you. Software Engineers and computer scientists use it so that you don't have to. They make life easier for you by using the large scale mathematics.

That's strange... usman's answer looks eerily similar to mine. You sure your source on that answer is google, usman?

Is algebra useful? yes. will you use it everyday?
maybe not you, but you benefit from it every day. Think of math as a tool like a hammer, nails and wood do you use them everyday?
probably not, but when the house you live in was built your carpenter, plumber, and air conditioning craftsmen needed those tools along with geometry, trig and algebra to figure out how to build a safe and comfortable house that will not come crashing down on you while you sleep at night.
if you ride a bus daily to school or drive yourself think of the car or bus. someone had to figure the size of the engine you need, the surface of the brake needed to stop you in time, and the number of teeth on the gears in your transmission to attain the proper speeds that match your engines capability. Too many things we don't worry about because they work well are there because of the thought process that went into them to ensure their reliability. It is when these systems fail that we feel the pain of incomplete thoughts and see the need for good tools to ensure a reliable design. Look at the bridge that collapsed in Minnesota. hundreds of people used it daily for the last 40 plus years without a second or third thought, it is only when it fails and kills people who depend on it that it will be considered along with every aspect of its design to determine where the shortcoming in its design was. The next time you go over a bridge, I am sure you would rather cross one that had error free calculations for its design.

I thought of the same thing when I took statistics.. But I was enlightened when my teacher told the class "you know, most of this bull, we dont even use it in real life, but it tells us one thing about life, however hard or complicated it may seem, there is always a solution for it". Hope this helps about how you see algebra or anything that looks hard? lol take care
