Well the smarter ones invested the money they made. Some make appearances and some are on different sports shows or channels either national or local such as Eric Dickerson doing the postgame show on CBS in Los Angeles every Sunday.

The smart ones invest in things. Some go on to work on espn or some other sports related show. If they don't do it all up on drugs and women they should be fine.

The smart ones invest. Then there's the endorsement deals (both national and local). Then there are the personal appearances. I guess if things got really tight, they could start selling off their memorablila.

nearly all of them make investments and start or join businesses while they are still playing, and so then they keep up their investments and business interests after that. if they are smart about it and hire a business manager to manage their affairs, they end up with a nice pile of money

He knew he was going to retire one day - and so he planned it. Also, he's made money doing broadcasting, and those guys can get paid for appearances, speaking, autograph signings and endorsement deals.

No idea who this "Dikerson" is but even with a boring conservative savings account, they'd make hundreds of thousands, maybe millions.
Come on, do the math.
