DO you have to know how to read music to learn to play the guitar?

Or is it more of an eye hand coordination thing? Forgive me if this is a dumb question...I'm not musically talented.

no u can play used tab...(tabliture) which is lots easier then reading music......playing guitar is really easy

Its easy...even to learn to read music. But you can definitely learn to play using tab...or just watching someone else...and pretty soon you will be reading the music and realize it wasn't that hard. And it is a hand-eye coordination kind of thing

you can play by ear and learn to form a few chords and even play with tabs but if you're going to be good you should pick up some knowledge of musical theory as you learn. it will enhance the experience for you.

Not really I am a self taught musician who learned many instruments by dedication and practice, but if you want to learn to read music that's also fine .

My 16 yr. old never took a music class at all yet he can hear a song and play it on his guitar...Its all in the faith you have in your self and the fire in you to follow what you want and like!!

No. There are certain people out there that can hear a song once or twice and play it on another instrument perfectly. I don't know if those people possess perfect pitch or what.

whoever said the guitar is really easy has obviously
never tried.

it's definetely not easy, perfecting songs and acctually
playing takes so much time. but tabs are quite easy to read,
its just getting them right.

I am almost entirely self-taught, and I don't know how to read music at all. Read tablature, it's much easier to understand.
