Guns? Knife? Are you crazy? In Italy you'd getting arrested If police should find you with a gun or a knife because It's illegal. I use to travel with my own 'grass'.

Well what do you define as protection? A gun or condoms? No, I don't carry a gun when I travel, nor do I carry condoms because I am married and don't plan on cheating on my wife.

If you mean sexual protection - no need. I trust myself that I won't lose my head to a one night stand, as tempting as it sounds. If you mean other protection to protect one's public safety, no but I carry my mobile at all times just in case.
