Or have you married someone that one or both of your parents doesn't like?

Honestly, I can't say for sure. At first, I want to say the idealistic "If I really loved her, nothing would stop me, not even her parents hating my guts." However, in the interest of being realistic, I believe I would probably think twice about marrying into a family in which I was disliked by the parents-in-law or more than one other significant person. If my lady's parents didn't like me, that would put a burden on her. Throughout the marriage, she would sometimes be put in situations in which she would have to choose between me or her parents (e.g. maybe her parents want her do something with them, but she already made plans to do something with me). Also, her parents would frequently pick me apart, trying to find ways to tear me down in order to give her reasons why she shouldn't be with me.

So, in all honesty, unless I was madly in love with the girl, I would probably think twice before marrying her if I were in this situation. I know this probably sounds unromantic, but I think it's important to embrace reality sometimes.

Yes I did. My husband was 25 and a convicted felon. I was 17 when we married. My father disowned me at the time. This was three weeks before I graduated high school that I told my father that I was pregnant and marrying this man he hated. No one came to my graduation. But me and my husband are still together. I am 45 years old now.
The man I married turned out to be one of the finest I have ever known. Stayed out of trouble and has worked very hard...so hard.

I value my parents opinion a lot but I know that they can be wrong about some things because they decide what they would want and not I want. I would take their concerns into consideration but it would take a lot more than that to actually prevent me from marrying someone that didn't meet their approval.

Probably not. I was a good kid in hs, school, went to college and rather hung with a good crowd of kids, so everyone who was a potential partner was in college. And I was never attracted to guys who looked like they were going to be abusive, or drunks, or druggies...

Yes, because if my parents really knew me, they wouldn't like me either.
