Lending money?

I bring money whenever i go out, but i've always got friends asking me to lend them some money because they were too lazy to bring their own. I usually have to wait 2 weeks just to get my money back (I'm talking about small money).
Whats a good way to tell my friends that I'm not going to lend them money without looking so selfish?

Go ahead and look selfish. You can start early before you agree to go out so they won't eat first then can't pay. When they say lets go out tell them you only have $20 to spend or whatever and if they say well I don't have any and hoped you would loan me some say sorry I don't have that in my budget, my budget is tight now days. Or if you invite them flat out ask you do you have money to go out I only have $20 but want to go.

Just say "Sorry, dude, can't cover you this week" (or your own words to that effect). You are under absolutely no obligation to explain further. If they can go out without money, then surely they can go home the same way. Its not your responsibility and no one should make you feel selfish for properly attending to your own finances. Might this cause you to lose a friend? Not a good one.

Sounds like you need some new friends. None of my friends would use me like that.

So what if you look selfish? I would rather look selfish and not be broke than look generous and be broke. One question - if you needed money, would these losers give you money? Or would they look "selfish"?

Say no. You're going to seem selfish no matter what. They are not being lazy, they're using you. Why spend their own money when they can spend yours?

think you need to grow some balls and flat out tell them straight up and if they are a true friend they will stay if they walk --so what -- there are other fishes (not all suckers no pun intended) in the sea.
