I had menangitis as a baby, and they were going to turn off my life support because it was keeping me alive, but then I started breathing on my own and expelled my own breathing tubes. I'm glad they didn't turn it off!
As an adult, I went into a severe diabetic coma, and for a while they couldn't get me back from it and thought I was going to die.

holy crap, i've had a few near death experiences.

the first was before i was even born.

okay, i'm listing them.

1. the doctor gave my mom a drug that made her incredibly dizzy. he asked her to sign some forms and she didn't know what they said. apparently, he was trying to get her to have an abortion. crazy.

2. when i was little, me and my older sister were at a birthday party at a waterpark. she asked me to go down this one waterslide with her. the sign said you had to be a certain height, and i was shorter then the sign, but being kids, we ignored the rules. so i went down the slide and forgot to hold my breathe. i saw the light at the end of the tunnel and then suddently landed in a really deep pool of water. i nearly drowned. lifeguards suck.

3. i was at a guitar recital when i was fourteen. i gave everyone hugs when it was over and started to walk home, considering i only lived two minutes away. it was dark out, i was crossing the street at a crosswalk, and this car didn't stop. instead, they honked the horn at me and scared me so bad. i ran the rest of the way home.

thats it so far. :D

When I was pregnant with my son (now 18). For the first 2-1/2 months of my pregnancy, I threw up literally every 10-15 minutes, 24 hours a day, for the entire 2-1/2 months. There was absolutely no relief and I could not keep ANYTHING down - not even a sip of water. When there was nothing for me to throw up, my body had dry heaves. It was uncontrollable. I was hospitalized twice. I had a nurse come out every day to my home to change my IV. I was so dehydrated despite the IV's due to lack of food and from vomiting, that my veins were collapsed and I was very, very weak. My doctor told me if I didn't improve soon, I would have to abort my baby to save my life.

I remember being in so much suffering and discomfort from the severe nausea, that when the nurse came to change my IV and she kept poking and poking me and couldn't find a good vein, I passed out from it all. During the time I passed out, I had a wonderful dream. I saw my dog, who had died about 3 years before, and she was jumping up and down, turning in circles the way dogs do when they want you to follow them, and she was trying to get me to pet her and follow her down this path. I remember that it was light, as if in a lit room, where we were, but it was a bit hazy in the distance and I couldn't see anything except what was right where we were. I started to pet her, but then I hesitated. I was so excited to see her and wanted to pet her, but something made me hesitate.

The next thing I knew, I was awake and vomiting all over again. The nurse told me that when I passed out, my blood pressure dropped so low that they lost my pulse. They thought I had died. I gave them a good scare. All I could do at that point was to say "oh crap - I should have pet my dog" because I was vomiting and suffering terribly all over again.

I believe I had a near death experience. Thankfully, my doctor inserted a central line IV (goes near the heart) with vitamins and fluids and gave me 5 times the recommended dosage of anti-nausea medication. I slowly regained my strength and went on to have a normal pregnancy and a very healthy 8-1/2 pound son who is now 18, and a daughter 9 years later who is now 9.

Hit my head on a diving board and when I tried to swim to the surface I couldn't move from my waist up. I kicked to the surface and some friends pulled me out. The feeling came back in my arms after a couple minutes. Must have been some temporary nerve damage. Scared the crap out of me though.

2 1/2 years ago i was in the hospital and was put on a 'death watch' type of scenerio...I had a nurse sitting at the foot of my bed all the time...they thought I might not make it...I almost didn't ..my liver, kidneys had shut down..my lungs were starting to fail...they couldn't operate because they told me I wasn't strong enough to survive the operation...I just wanted to go to sleep.......and I did...BUT I woke up in a couple of days and in a few more weeks I was home again..a little weaker but fine....

When I had a piece of steak lodged in my airway. It is a singular experience not being able to breathe or talk or gag even. Nothing. My husband bruised my ribs severely in doing the Heimlich maneuver...laughing..he panicked and he is very strong bless him. The whole time I am thinking...."is this how I die???" He is working on me but nothing was happening. I was trying to grab at the phone when finally the meat dislodged itself. I thought I was going to die and it crossed my mind how bad he would feel for being unable to help me and having me die in his arms. It was awful.

I was in a really big earthquake while on vacation in Mexico in October 1995. Didn't think I would survive that. I thought the whole building was going to collapse on me. Luckily nothing happened.

I was at a bar in Baltimore with my friends one night about 1&1/2 yrs ago. We got in an arguement with these other guys who were F***in around with these girls and wouldn't leave em' alone. My friend punched one of them in the face, and the battle ensued. We slugged it out for about 25secs before one of them pulled out a knife, stabbed me 4 times. I nearly bled to death.

The closest I've been to death was when I was working nights at this company many years ago. I would come home in the early mornings like around 1 am where everyone would be sleeping by then. I drove to my parking lot in my 'lemon' car Fiat, which the horn never worked, one of the windows wouldn't roll down, and you would have to open the door from the outside of the passenger side to get out or to get in. Don't ask me why I drove this car, but it took me to work and back.

So, I drove into the parking lot and I opened my door to get out, but then this guy in a dark mask over his head pushed me hard into the passenger side seat. I really thought this was a joke because this happened 1 day before Holloween. I started naming names of who it was, but he kept on saying no to each one. He then ask me for my keys, but I told him that I don't have them. That was a lie, but I said that to save myself from having someone drive away with my car and with me in it. I did have my keys because I did drive up to the parking lot.

I then told him if I give him the keys will he let me go, he said, "No." I tried to roll down my window, but then he hit me really hard across my face. I was asking G-d to help me with a whisper prayer. I then gave him the keys. As he was getting ready to start the car, I then reached over to the steering wheel and pressed my left hand against the horn, then suddenly, the horn beeped! To me it sounded like a loud beep coming from a 'lemon' car. Remember, this horn never, ever worked at all. He then reached over to me and hit me once again and he got out of the car and took off running.

I couldn't take my hand off the horn! I was so terrified that I went to my appartment and told my roommate what had happened. We called the police and I even had to go to the emergency for shock.

Conclusion... I believe that this was an act of G-d. I believe that He was the One who allowed the horn on my car to beep or to work when I was in trouble. G-d was there with me when I called for His help, He was there. I will never forget what has happened and I will never forget that G-d did hear my cry in time of need. I thank G-d each day for giving me life and giving me all that I need to live it.

A coma for a week. It was actually the most peaceful thing I've ever experienced and I woke up feeling wonderful and energized.
