Not all politicians are liars, although it may seem so. Maybe it's just the successful ones. I learned at an early age that remembering which lies I told to whom was a lot of work. So the normal falshoods that go along with most political campaigns are not included in mine.

On the other hand, maybe that's why I have yet to win an election. . . .

Not all politicians lie. By excepting this myth you are being mislead by the corrupt liars. Think about it. If you are NOT a liar do you excuse your behavior by saying that all others are doing it? No, only the liars would say that.
As voters you have to have the sense to separate what is personal and what is professional when electing someone.
A candidate is not allowed to say that he had to declare bankruptcy some years ago.
A candidate is not allowed to admit that they and their spouse had problems because of infidelity.
A candidate is not allowed to admit that they may have tried grass in college several years earlier.
Of course, any candidate that has not done the above won't believed if they deny it.

There is no separation of Profit and the State...
Eliminating any way to influence an official other than your vote should be illegal. Either reduce terms further, or allow impeachment for not following your own campaign promises as well. This would restore integrity to the political process.

What is a polition? :) Just messing with you. Most want to gain power and keep it. It's not so much that they lie, they follow the polls and say one thing to please the majority of the people. Then when something changes, they'll change back to please the people. Then when they're questioned about the particular issue later on, it's hard to explain why you did what you did.

Because they can. They haven't bothered to put themselves under the restraint of a truth in advertising law like they have everybody else selling or promoting a product or service.

They tell us what they think we want to hear and what it takes to win. If you cheated on your spouse would you go home and tell the truth no you wouldn't.why because it's not what she/he wants to hear.
