Building your own computer can turn out more expensive yet usually wields much better results and you can transfer parts should you upgrade again later on. Computers built by companies such as Dell are going to be cheaper cause they can buy in bulk yet in my opinion the computer won't be near as good as if you selected each part yourself and built it considering you know what your doing.

If you are a computer tech then I'm a monkey's uncle.
Have you never heard that if you build a computer from new parts, it would cost about ten hundred million billion thousand rupees (?).
Anyway, get the best you can for the money, and upgrade, (if you must) to what you wish.
I don't think you'll be doing much upgrading as you won't be able to keep up with it.

Building your own is cheaper and you get the satisfaction of its your build. I'm building one right now. One Piece at a time. Got the mobo, the processor, the memory, the graphics card. Next it'll be the case and the 600 watt ps. After that, The sata hdd, then the monitor. By Christmas, I hope, it'll be ready.

Since a computer tech, yu must b knowing it better. Yet, I suggest yu assemble yur own computer. That way yu can assemble a computer that will allow yur combinations and satisfy yur requirements.
Cost wise, assembling wud turn out cheaper coz no assembly charges or tax or comp manufacturer's profit wud b included of a branded computer.
Only drawback of an assembled computer is that in case of any issues, yu cannot call any tech support teams over the fone. Which again, being a tech yurself, may not be necessary in yur case. Also, there are service stations where yu can take yur comp to in case of bigger issue(which yu cannot handle).
So, assemble yur own computer.

To buy a pc off the shelf is the easy option, however you will only get what is already installed. If you can build one from scratch yourself you will get a machine totally specific to your requirements and it will probably be cheaper than buying one tailor made for you by another pc technician.

Build!! When u buy one, u have to buy other programs that you might not use. Most of the time, you will have an internet program installed. Build your own and just load what you want on it, saving memory and money. U can use the money you saved for memory or larger HD

A real computer tech has no need to ask those 3 questions, not even a person with average-high computer knowledge.

Go with the buying power of companies like Dell or HP. They have bigger buying power and can get their parts for A LOT cheaper than you can. Dell and HP will both allow to customize your build.

You should assemble your own if you know how. Its much cheaper plus you get to chose which features you like and add them up. And you are sure that all your stuff are brand new.
