A-Rod has not gotten the ball back yet. The guy who caught it is named Walter Kowalczyk, a 29-year-old graduate student. The Yankees said they were willing to negotiate with him for the ball, and offered him various memorabilia and autographs for the ball. He has said he "needs to sleep on it". What a guy.

A-Rod said he would "love to have the ball" to give to his young daughter someday to commorate the occasion. The helmet, bat, and uniform have already been sent to the Hall of Fame.

No, the kid wouldn't deal. Foolish. He probably could have gotten some serious Jack and a bunch of memorabilia that would have been worth what the ball is worth. A 500 HR ball is not that valuable. He should have worked something out so Arod could give the ball to his kid. I could see holding out on Bonds' 756. But not on this. I guess Rutgers isn't educating any geniuses over there.

The fan still hasn't decided what to do with the ball, and isn't making contact with any media outlets:

It's obviously up to the fan, but I really hope Alex gets the ball even if it's mean giving money, memoribilia or whatever. That's a big milestone.
