Extremism of any kind is irrational and could lead to violent action. The world should watch out for the new breed of Terrorism that is being inflicted on humanity by the do-gooders who claim to save the planet, the ozone layer and wildlife! Many of these people are loonies - so be careful how far you go with your extemist friends. Of course there are people with genuine fears - but you should use your intelligence and support the activists who DO NOT USE VIOLENCE.

I think we have a different notion about ecoterrorism.
An ecoterrorist is a person who inflicts unnecessary damage on the environment causing grief to other people and even to themselves.
Let me give you one example.
I live in an area where most people work for the same institute. The institute is about 1to 2 km from the living area.
Every morning I see hundreds of people getting in their big fat cars (average 2,5 liter diesel engine), stay in a traffic jam for about 15 min, park the car near one of the big building and then walk 300 to 400 meter to their work place. At noon, some of them come home to eat, with the car of course. Evening, same scenario as in the morning but in the other direction. In the morning, when the last cars leave the living area, I walk or I take my bike depending in which building I have to be. I am always one of the first ones to arrive at the job.
The offices are very old. A few years ago they had airco installed. Several offices are kept so cold, we have to put a jacket. Many doors are left open and in some rooms I can put a finger between the wall and the windowframe.
In the area where I live, cancer and juvenile asthma is rising drastically. I know of no children from colleagues who have not had at least one antibiotic cure in the first 24 months of their lives.
In the evening and in weekends half the people want to enjoy a barbecue: big piles of smoke rising everywhere.
If we all took the bike, if we did not attempt to cool down the open air, I think we we would save lots of money, put less stress on the health of everybody, especially the children. Our country would have to buy less oil, the Saudis would not have become so powerful.
The ecoterrorists are using massive violence, but in small doses
One last thing: it is easy and intellectually lazy to think that the truth is in the middle. It never is. A compromise sometimes is in the middle.

What ecoterrorists? As far as I can see violent ecologists seem to dwell only in the realms of popular fiction. Who are you talking about?

violence just breeds more violence and detracts from the important message thats trying to be put across. i think they latch onto worthy causes and just use it as an excuse for violence.
