Ok so the clothes sizes at these stores are at least 2 sizes smaller than they would be at any other store. I'm 15 years old, 5'5 150 lbs, size 13 pants and according to my doctor I'm considered average and yet I don't fit in either of these stores. Heres a picture of me http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o114/HarlequinGirl428/me.jpg?t=1186373753 The other thing is for how expensive the clothes are the quality really isn't there. As far as I know Hollister goes up to a size large [which is usually what size I am] and Abercrombie goes up to an XL which you have to ask for because they don't keep this size out. I had a shirt that was a size large in Hollister that and in Abercrombie an XL and both didnt fit. I emailed Hollister saying that I am average and there is no reason why I should have this problem they replied by saying that they cater to the AVERAGE sizes of 14-18 yr old girls and there sorry if I don't fit into that category. Before you call me a fat *** just think about it.

I completely agree with you. I think that these stores both cater to skanky 12 year old trailer trash anorexics. The clothes are so insanely low quality that they are unraveling before they get sold, which is passed off as being on purpose. It should tell you something that they sell their clothes in the dark too. If you have to hide your clothes in the dark you clearly are not selling a worthwhile product. I used to work at a clothing store and we would get in 2 XS, 3 S, 3 M, 2 L, and MAYBE 1 XL. Clothing just isn't built for people who eat more than lettuce and water anymore.

I do not think you are fat. You are perfectly healthy and have a lovely curvy figure. Don't let anyone try to tell you otherwise!!!

Don't bother with trendy clothes that aren't well made. I'm the same height as you and was around the same weight before I became obsessed with pilates. I never had a problem fitting into clothes from abercrombie or hollister but I never bothered with that crap anyway. It's a shame that you weren't treated properly when addressing a real concern to such a large company. Especially one that doesn't have to spend money on advertising because the clothes are the ads. I recommend the book Dress Your Best: The Complete Guide to Finding the Style That's Right for Your Body by Clinton Kelly and Stacy London of What Not to Wear fame. Its more important how your clothes fit than what trendy store you bought them from. Throughout high school I was known for my unique sense of style which I had developed from looking at european fashion magazines and looking to past styles/trends that weren't currently in. Amazing accessories can make a plain white t-shirt and jeans look super chic. So instead of worrying about what clothes you can't wear think about all the great stuff you can wear. I love love loves shoes, purses, and jewelry. Thrift stores are awesome but you're gonna have to hunt for the good stuff. And all the accessories from stores like forever 21 are super cheap and when they aren't fashionable anymore you won't care about getting rid of them. Hope this helped.

Well, I kind of agree AND disagree. I am 13, 5"6, and weigh 130 lbs. I'm not that thin since i wear a size 4 in jeans, but I'm not the biggest person. And, yes, actually Hollister is my favorite store. But, I kind of do hate the sizes there. I mean in other stores, I'm usually a small, but in Hollister most of the times I'm medium, and sometimes I even have to get a large because some of the clothes shrink. The sizes kind of makes me feel bad. Plus, I don't really like Hollister and A&F for all the people that shop there. I mean, I'm not going to judge, but most of the girls are really pretty for some reason, and they are stick thin. I'm just average, i guess. So, it kind of mkaes me feel self conscious.

As for A&F, people say the sizes are a bit larger than Hollister's. I don't shop at A&F that much, but I have a pair of jeans from there, and yes I actually had to get a smaller size. I have some shirts from A&F Oulet, and I always get a large, but sometimes that's even too small, after I wash it. But I think it's because the clothes have a defect.

As for the prices, I think they are a little expensive for someone my age. But I go ot the clearance sections a lot, and htey have some really cute clothes. I once got a hoodie there for $10! The prices are not THAT bad. Actually HOT TOPIC and some other stores cost more. But as I said, the clearance section is actually considered very cheap comparing ot other stores. I mean, you can get a hoodie for $30, and it's the same price as Delia*s or some other stores. And for the regular prices, the jeans are decent priced. I got a pair for $36. That's not bad at all. There are stores that have jeans for $300. And the jeans at Hollister are worth the price. The only thing I don't like is that they make them really small. I mean I have to go up like 3 sizes. I usually wear a 5 or 7 there.

The prices at A&F are a little too outrageous. I mean their hoodies are $80, and there are sweaters that cost $128. I wouldn't buy something for that price, because I'm still going to grow and I'm only 13. Although, when the clothes go on sale, they are very cheap. Usually the henley's cost only $13 once they are on sale. That's a good price. So if somebody's low on money, all you have ot do is go to the clearance sections. The clothes are for much, much cheaper.

So, I've listed a lot of bad things about those stores, and your probably wondering why I still shop there. Well, I first started to shop there to fit in. Yes, I know, pretty stupid reason, but everybody started shopping there. Then, I started to like the clothes. Actually right now, I shop there for the style of the clothes. I mean, no other stores have that many v-necks, henley's, logo tee's, etc. I like their style. I also like AE, which is almost the same, but it has better sizes. And trust me, I'm not a spoiled rich kid who ONLY shops at those stores. First of all, O use my own money, that I save up, and I shop at a lot of different stores. Hollister is my fav., but I don't start screaming if I don't get something from there (ha. my friend did that once.) Other people buy those clothes to show off, or pretend they are rich. I don't really get what's to show off, because I just ocnsider them part of regular stores. And how can you pretend your rich? Those stores prices are pretty average. I don't shop there for the logos. All of my shirts have the little seagull, because I haven't bought a shirt that says Hollister. Well, I guess you get my point by now. Wow, trhis was long. And as i said, i agree with you, but i still like the stores.

Oh yeah, you do look pretty average, and I wouldn't consider you fat, so I have no idea why they don't mkae clothes like that. What I think is if they make their clothes larger, then less "preppy" people would shop there because a lot of people that I know shop there to show others they can fit into those clothes. That's really stupid, but that's just my guess. Well, you have a pretty good figure and just shop at other stores. American Eagle carries really large sizes, so I'm pretty sure you can fit in there.

Well the reason that their clothes come smaller than most is because they are meant for the "popular" type of people. And the stereotypical popular girl is tall and thin. It's extremely shallow that a brand only markets it's clothes to those type of people. That's why they're employees are instructed to walk around the store and ask any "hot" person if they would like a job. Attractive employees are supposed to draw more attractive people in, at least that's what the CEO thinks. He even admitted that the clothes are intended for the perfect popular girl at school, and the muscular popular boy at school. I dont know what possessed them to want to market a brand that supports only one image. It's really sad and extremely shallow.

But if i were you i wouldnt shop there anyway, according to them you aren't the type of person they want to attract to their stores. But you can do a LOT better than abercrombie. There are tons of better stores out their that accept all kinds of people.

EDIT: You should check out this article, it's an interview with the CEO.

I do agree that their sizes are pretty small. At hollister I am a large in most things and i'm not even that big! I'm average size, by the way i am 14. And same with abercomie&fitch. They should really think about making clothes in more bigger sizes for more teens to wear because teenagers come in all different shapes and sizes! They do cater to smaller people alot. I shop there because i really like their clothes and they are cute and i like that style.

There isn't anything super special about the two stores. Ihts just that their stuff is cute [Well, most anyways] && I guess another thing is that their kinda of a popular "brand name".
But I agree. They do have smaller sizes than most stores.

I'm not agaisnt shopping there though. Lol I do buy some/most of my clothes at Abercrombie, so I'm just saying.
But Forever 21 and Papaya are good places to shop. They have bigger sizes and the prices are cheaper. Their clothes are cute and trendy && they also sell cute accesories. I shop there too(: Hopefully this helped!

I understand what you mean. I am 13 and 90lbs. I fit into a Small - Medium at Hollister. That is pathetic.

Teens only shop there to show that they will pay for the label. I would rather pay for unique, vintage clothing that is different from everyone else!

My favorite stores are PacSun, Wet Seal and TJ Maxx. Do they not only have trendy, cute clothes but their fit is ahhhmazing. Check em' out.

Sad to say, but Abercrombie's market, which used to aim towards outdoorsmen is now aimed to more svelte people. And if you take just one look at the people that work there, you can see who they REALLY want to sell to.

But honestly? You should find ANY problem finding clothes there. I definatly would NOT call you fat by any means. But sometimes, you need to buy based on the cut and style of the shirt/pants.

I am not tiny myself. But I still manage to find plenty of clothes there. I wear size 6 jeans and medium tops.

And the reason they are so popular? Look at their website. They're all about hot people wearing hot clothes. If you wear something from A&F or Hollister, you "become hot". Or whatever.

Im not trying to be rude, but if you are so against them, just try a different store.. don't complain about them not selling your size, just think .. It's their fault they aren't getting your business.

I shop at both places, and lemme tell ya, You can get alot more at other stores then you can at hollister and abercrombie for less..

I like it because I think the style is cute, and I just like the way the clothes fit.

Shop at ae instead.they have larger sizes.

go to www.ae.com

oh and to the other people who were trash talking abercrombie, don't get mad because YOU can't fit it.Just because you can't fit dosent mean no one should wear it.You're right..not all clothing is made for all sizes.THAT'S because not all sizes should be wearing the same clothes. It will look just as strange for a size 2 girl wearing a shirt 2 times too big,as it will a size 16 girl wearing a shirt 2 times too small.Just shop where you can fit the stuff and stop complaining! It's Life!Deal with it!
