Sorry I know that was a little unclear with my question. I wanted to ask if the biggest lie told by the Socialists in our government was Social Security or that Joining the UN was a good idea that would promote world peace.

SSI is paid for by the employers and is considered to be part of the benefit of having and keeping a job. Although it might not be the most efficient pension plan in the world, it has made retirement easier for millions of people. Before you throw it out, come up with a better one and make sure those who have beeen paying in for decades will not be screwed out of their just rewards. SSI still has a chance to be a good sytstem if it can be moderated to fit the users better and be safe from politicians. Minnesota has a great public employees retirement, it is connected to the stock market and based on amount paid in only, but it is still at risk of politics.

The UN is about hope, once again...if another better idea comes along, I'm all for changing....The real purpose of the UN is not to be a world police, but a place where all countries can go to talk and get a consensus...any so called policing is simply to make a buffer of neutrality between warring factions...it is supposed to be a selfless act to inspire the factions to seek peace...it is far from perfect, but gives even enemies a place to air their differences...the US should certainly not pay for any more than any other country, but it does have it's uses....politicians suck

Social Security and Medicare have combined to dramatically reduce poverty among the elderly. While the "it is better off to die and reduce the surplus population" crowd among the conservatives may not be happy with an economically secure and healthy group of senior citizens, those programs have achieved their essential goal (Whether that success is cost-effective is an interesting question for debate, but the success of the program in achieving its goal is beyond dispute.)

The U.N. is not a particularly socialist idea. Rather it was an understanding by both liberals and conservatives (at least I think Winston Churchill belonged to the Conservative Party) that if we wanted to prevent another World War, we needed a strong multi-national institution. The U.N is for the most part a failure at its loftier goals but it has not been a complete failure.

Your question is unclear. Do you mean social security is lie being told by either socialists and the un or is the lie social security or the UN.

However, you seem to one of those people who think if they don't agree with it--it must be big bad communism.

Social Security was a barely tolerable idea -- forced retirement savings -- before the system was looted.

The UN is the idea that nations can actually work together to resolve differences -- not so much a lie as a pipe dream.

Social Security will survive if changes are made. If things do not change, then it will cease to exist. Social Security can make it if we stop giving billions of dollars in foreign aid around the world and decrease military spending. We need to take care of ourselves instead of "bringing democracy" to people who do not appreciate it. it's a huge waste of money.

Social Sercurity keeps millions of Americans alive. I hope when you get to the age you can collect it, you will appreciate it. It is no lie. And it has nothing to do with the UN. Apples and oranges.

it is an identical song, an identical song that the "economic duty" persons muster up while they don't choose to develop taxes. they could have a scapegoat or 2 that are displayed as sacred cows which could be decrease. what's skipped over is they have already decrease so-called entitlements to the bone and now they choose to decrease up the bones.
