when i am using my built in wireless internet, it says the speed is 54mbps, is that good, also if i buy a wireless rangebooster notebook card that goes a 108mbps will my download speeds be faster, and will i be able to connect to my router from a little bit far away without having low signal, also whats the best wireless card that gives you a good download speed and wireless signal

Is your router a wireless G router? If so, then your speed of 54mbps is the maximum speed of data transfer on Wireless G.
If you really are interested in this, connect your computer via an ethernet cable directly to your cable modem and get online. Go to SpeedTest.net and find your internet speed. If it is faster than 54mbps, (highly highly unlikely) your router isn't fast enough for your internet and you could benefit from buying a Wireless N router.
No. Buying the 108mbps wireless card will not benefit you unless your router is able to broadcast at 108mbps which a wireless G router cannot. (Although there are things like Linksys "Speed Booster" but you have to A. Have an internet connection faster than 54mbps to benefit from it, B. Have the "Speed Booster" router, & C. Have the "Speed Booster" wireless card.)
You might get a better signal strength but it depends on a lot of things, how big an antenna the wireless card has, how it is arranged, etc etc. Just knowing it can do 108mbps doesn't tell you much about its range.
I'd recommend purchasing a wireless card that is made by the manufacturer of your router. If you have a Linksys router, buy a Linksys card. That is a pretty good way to ensure optimal speed & range.
