At the expense of looking repetetion ,it is again mentined here that the next American president's election is of great concern to not only to the Americans( the real voters ) themselves but to the nations across the world as so much money goes out of developmental works / welfare measures to produce / purchase weaponry which are forced upon due to the war mongering. No doubt some action is being taken to fight terrorism / extremism, but are not some of these extremists including Osama and even Saddam Hussein were supported at some point of time or the other for whatever the reasons the leders choose to offer. Those actions were short - sighted and immature and are not to be repeated.
American democracy is looked upon as an evolved democracy and a torch bearer to the emerging democracies across the world; and hence the lack of seriousness on the part of the real voters, pains and hurts all those bllievers who look forward tha lasting peace shall be brought back by the newly elected.

Because many Americans have become disgusted with the candidates -- it seems like no matter who is elected, very little changes for the better -- so it's just trying to guess who is going to cause the least damage.

We cannot elect the incumbent. He has served two terms, that's the limit. Don't know where you get the idea that we are not taking it seriously. We pay very close attention. The fact is, it's too early to get too excited. We don't know if all the candidates have even tossed their hats into the ring. You will see as it gets closer, Americans care very much, maybe more than at any time in recent memory. We have alot to lose and to gain this time.

Because most people have tons of other things to do during the day that are important to them. I don't think the average American is less politically inclined than the average person in the U.K. or Spain. However, we have a system for choosing a leader that is designed to make it more difficult for voters to figure out the intelligent way to vote.

Write till your fingers burn. This question should get the best question of the day award. I truly have no idea, but my brother in law votes Democrat and that means he walks in and trips all the knobs on the Democrats side. This makes no sense to me. Good luck and good nite - Keith Olbermann

I don't think people are not serious, I just think they don't know who they want to vote for. I know I'm not voting for a democrat, but I'm still undecided. And we still have over a year to decide.
