I think the one who cried - and THEN recovered her composure. There's a time for weeping, a time for reflection, a time for decision, and a time for action. It can be weak, and foolish, to avoid any of them when they are appropriate. We can drown later in tears withheld. We can betray ourselves through lack of reflection, decision, and appropriate action.

It depends on the situation.

Let's say the girls are sisters. If their mother died, the one who kept their composure and did what had to be done is the stronger of the two, because she's just as hurt but can still function.

If the girl's best friend broke up with their boyfriend, and they cried with their friend, the one who cried is the stronger of the two.

I think in the end, they're equally strong, and just display their strengths in different ways.

The one who is able to express their emotions without feeling ashamed is the stronger of the two. Emotion is a form of communication that allows others to know how one is feeling. Sometimes it creates empathy so another can be a form of comfort. However, the woman who maintained her composure, may be a stronger willed person who is not easily impacted by circumstances and events. To suggest she is not strong because she maintained her composure would be only an assumption. Sometimes it takes a strong person to maintain their composure while in the midst of a bad circumstance. There is an argument to both sides, but I personally have a greater appreciation for someone who expresses their feelings and leaves nothing to guess.

"The one who cried her heart out, and kept her composure at the same time. When we cry our heart out, we are being composed to show our true feelings and face our fears. That's how I feel. If i have to decide from the two then I would say "the one who cried her heart out".

Sorry to hear you're having a tough time, but just think about it this way: you're better off without someone who is capable of doing such a thing!!! Why didn't he have the balls to say this to you IN YOUR FACE!!? I agree with the others who have said that you should be angry rather than sad. But I know the pain doesn't just vanish like that. I do think you should go home BUT only if you will have someone to talk to when being there. It does relieve me quite a bit to have someone to vent with when I'm feeling this way, being alone may make you feel sadder. If anything, leave your office and go for a walk, buy an ice cream or something like that, but don't go lie in your bed and feel sorry for yourself. Have a good cry, that always helps take it out, and of course you can't do this while at work (except for the quick trip to the bathroom but then everyone will be able to see your big red eyes and will start being nosey and asking what happened and blah blah). So try to get out of there, and chin up girl!!!! You're way better than him, be happy you didn't lose any more time with the moron!!!!

One who cried her heart out... for "it takes true courage for a real man to cry" and a heart full of courage is stronger than a heart kept in composure.

Holding your composure. I must say, I think holding in your tears has not as much to do with strength as just the amount you allow people to see of yourself from the inside out. If I'm around people who I don't feel confortable with, I will try to shield my inner-most feelings. But if I'm with familiar faces, I wouldn't hold back my tears if I felt like crying. In terms of strength, it takes just as much to reveal your heart as to shelter it. Some individuals may be too afraid of what others think or appearing weak to cry in front of them, while another may show their feelings because they know - and don't question - their personal strength. And it seems that crying is mostly a spontaneous reaction that comes from a heightened emotion, like smiling or even sweating when nervous. If you tell me a hilarious story after work, I wouldn't walk away then laugh about it when I got home :)

im a masochist therefore i think it is the one who kept composure stronger than the one who cried and NAGGED their heart out...lol...when someone had the chance to say whats on their heart and cry it out there will be a relief wherein for those who kept composure means they need to fight the grievance themselves

Neither. Rather the one who keeps her composure and cries her heart out in private so the pain is not buried or dissociated, causing future weakness.

That really depends Enki binki on what you are looking for in a woman haheheh because you said she hahaha :)))

Both really can be strong qualities BUT....it depends on the situation and circumstances and tests that one gives and perceives in a relationship! If the person is to clingy and obsessive etc...I think it is commendable to keep ones composure but that is not for evey situation we need to cry when someone dies ot someone we love is hurt and is going to die human emotion is beautiful thing and it helps us heal and understand life with compassion and understanding & love :))) I think when you are able to express your feelings by crying you are stronger or you become stronger for letting out your thoughts and feelings in the long run the person that is keeping their composure wil eventaully have a break-down its just human nature :))))Have a balance of the two....
