If you don't drive your car hard, it won't be very noticable at first, but when you put you foot in the pedal, your engine will suffer from pre-detonation which is the fuel igniting before the spark plug fires. This will cause stress throughout your engine and eventually failure.

Alot of times you will hear knocking. My friend had an 73 Datsun Z with a Corvette engine that would not even run on anything less than premium. My 95 Trans Am will run on regular gas and doesn't knock, but runs very sluggish and you can notice the loss of power. Needless to say, I don't put anything other than premium in it.

On an old car, it would ping and knock especially when accelerating. On a modern car, a computer will sense this and retard the timing so that the knocking (which can be disasterous for an engine) does not take place. The car will seem to run fine, but without the power that it would have on premium/

if ya put regular gas in a premium car you will get detonation also called ping, under load your car will sound like ya got marbles in the engine,,not good for the pistons, cars with premium reqs have a higher compression for more power.it won't have the same zip..use only in a pinch..try to get 89 if possible

I'm assuming you don't want a technical answer, so here's a practical one. Engines that are tuned for higher octane fuels tend to run a little rougher on lower octane fuels. Some knocks, pings, etc. Sometimes slightly higher fuel consumption and decreased performance also. It creates bigger problems in higher performance engines than in most everyday cars.

It may ping a bit after the engine warms up or under load, but on newer cars the computer may automatically retard the timing to eliminate the pinging.

Nothing much, but your car will be a little slower, less powered, weak and the perfomance will decrease. But to be safe, use what the manual requires.

you may get an octane knock it will sound like a pinging sound. but that depends on the vehicle i have seen vehicles that supposedly call for premium run perfectly fine on reg.

your car will not run and if it does run.. it will run horrible.. because the premium gas is able to withstand much more pressure
