I have to disagree with that other dude, the absence of LAW does NOT mean the absence of SOCIAL ORDER. being an anarcho-communist, I well believe that we would all be better off with no laws, and only social conscience to guide us. and hell, with the violence fixation our country has, most "civilized" countries have, it's no wonder violence persists.
recap: YES violence would decline in the absence of law.

If there was no law against being violent, then I believe there would be more violence.

No, there would be more violence.

The law just defines what is and is not acceptable -- and punishes those who break them.

Removing limitations would just encourage more violence.
