He disgraced Barry Bonds and Henry Aaron with his display of nonchalance. I thought he was Henry's best friend!
The record was not broken but rather tied. That still meant that Henry was still the HR king.

I think "undignified" was the professional term for what Bud Selig looked like. To me, he looked like he had just been shaken awake by some loud roaring, so he jumped up real quick to see what was going on. Then when he saw that it was just Barry tying the all time home run record, he got this real annoyed look on his face, like he was almost pissed that he had to be bothered by something so unimportant during his afternoon nap.
If anyone is a disgrace to baseball, it is Bud Selig. That man should be doing everything he can to promote the game of baseball. He was the happiest man on earth when Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire brought baseball back to the fans with that home run chase. And now someone from the steroid era that he created (that's right.. he created), is breaking a record that he didn't want broken, and he doesn't know how to handle it. Since Barry has yet to have been suspended for a single game for taking steroids, Bud should be there supporting him 100%, regardless of his personal opinion. He has not handled this situation anywhere in the realm of professionally, he's acting like a 13 year old kid who's holding a grudge against the kid who gave him a wedgie during recess. He is an absolute disgrace to the game and should be removed from his role as the commissioner of baseball.
To expand, I believe that Bud Selig created the "steroid era". After the baseball strike in the early 90's, there had to be some way of getting baseball to rise in popularity again. First it was McGwire and Sosa blasting home runs left and right... and Bud Selig turned the other cheek. He could have started testing then... but didn't. Then it was Barry Bonds that started blasting home runs. Bud Selig again, turned the other cheek. Baseball was getting more and more of their fans back by the week, and he was loving it. Still no testing was put into place. Then all of the sudden, the Balco story broke, and Bud Selig had his scapegoat. Lets focus all of our attention on Bonds so that Selig can sneak away with his little rat tail between his little rat legs.

What are you talking about classless? Maybe he didnt get up and cheer and go crazy because Barry Bonds is a cheater, no matter what anyone says. 755...756...800....2 million, it doesnt matter- a cheater is a cheater. Sorry some people actually have morals and see Bonds for what he really is.
Yes, I know, hitting 755, and probably 756 is an amazing thing to happen; real baseball fans know this. But real baseball fans should also stick up for what is right, and Bud Selig knows that Barry Bonds being on top is not what is right.

It was not one of Selig's better moments, to be sure. I was watching Sportscenter this morning, and it was Tom Hicks, the Rangers owner, sitting in front of Selig, imploring him to at least stand up.
I try to look at this from Selig's perspective. He is from Milwaukee, where Aaron played 12 years with the Braves, and was a huge Aaron fan. Later, as owner of the Brewers, Selig brough Aaron back to play the last two years of his career in Milwaukee. The two are close friends, and I'm sure it hurts Selig a lot to see his friend's record broken, by someone who has a huge cloud hanging over him. Still, he at least should have stood up on his own, and not fidgeted the way he did.

He was probably half drunk and someone told him to stand up. Bud Selig has ruined baseball because he didnt nut up to get rid of steriods only because people were storming the gates and paying a lot of money to see homeruns. He hates the fact that the biggest name in the steriod era is one HR away from breaking the greatest record in sports and he does not wanna be there when it happens. He looks and sounds like a guy after a three day bender. What a freakin joke...retire already

I agree. He looked down and depressed, not happy like the commissioner should have been when Barry hit 755.
EDIT; Whatever he looked, it wasn't what it should have been. The guy is a bit of a downer anyway.

Bud Selig is simply a buffoon. He has done a couple of good things for baseball, but he is just disconnected. Cmon, Barry just tied the greatest record & baseball & you cannot stand up & cheer.....at least applaud. Classless.

Selig, like every other American, has the right to express his opinion. You should respect his right to do so.
Maybe you ought to judge people by something more important than how they "look."

That guy is a dang racist. He didnt clap for Bonds because he didnt want to accept the fact that another player tied the record of one of his former players he used to own as being the Millawaukee Brewers.
