To be freed from the approval of others in so liberating....It is almost intoxicating. YOUR thoughts, please.

That statement is far too true. It is also more than just their opinions that can make or break you.

I have a daughter that has controlled my life for many years. It is because she has some mental disorders and refuses to take her medication. I am raising her two children but the most liberating day in my life was when I decided that I would not let her control my life any more.

She is 23 years old and cannot live in my house because she has run off with her son twice and I had to find him. I cannot change her, all I can do is pray for her. The thing that I can change is the control she has had over my life for many, many years.

And yes. it was intoxicating.

the truth is... i don't know how not to let someone touch my state of being. i can't help what i feel... and i feel that if i tried not to care what others thought... when i do... i'd say to myself, i can't fool anyone, if i can't even fool myself. i'm only lying to myself, making myself look tough. when i'm totally not. sadly, most people can't tell that i care so much about what others think of me. but sometimes i can't sleep because of this. i hate it so much because i wish i could say what i think and not care about the consquences. but it's hard because it's like, what if this costs me, say, a friendship. then, i probably don't have the right friends... but it's more complicated than that. everything is too complicated, to some extent or another. like, if i say something and i get scoffed at, i'll never be able to say that same thing to myself again without remembering that scoff and thinking to myself, what is the point?

nothing left to lose is right. maybe i'd come out if i knew i would die tomorrow, and live with that satisfaction.

*sigh* There are trade-offs in everything, podner. Me, I'd rather still be shackled to Buttercup, than be free. Seeing the band of gold there on the street hurt a lot. Still does, when I think about it.

Freedom is just another word for, nothing left to lose.

Dagnabbit, I'm gettin' maudlin again.

Edit: If what you've got is intoxicatin', pass me the jug, please, I could use a swig right about now.

I think you are right in one way, but I think also if we don't ever let what others think effect us then we can become cold. It depends who it is weather I let what they think effect my life or not. What my loved ones think about me is important to me because I value their opinion. Most others I don't give a hoot about. Only the ones close to me really know me anyway.

Right now I am free and I don't care what anybody thinks about me, no cares in the world except how far is it to my bed. Good night all..
