Glavine is definitely a class act, and he deserves his place among the winning-est pitchers of all time. Personally, I would love to have seen him hit 300 wins in a Braves uniform. Not that I'm a Braves fan, but when you have so much success while playing for a team, the milestones that you reach would mean so much more if you're still on that team.
Not to mention that Glavine wears my favorite number.... :)

As a Mets fan, I can say it made up for the fact Tom Seaver won his 300th game in a Chicago White Sox uniform (in Yankee Stadium, but still). Yes, it would be great for a guy like Glavine to have done it for the Braves, but this is baseball in the 21st Century when Greg Maddux, a 350 game winner, will have pitched for four teams, three in his last three seasons.

Glavine has been a great player for a long time now. I rooted for him when he was one of my Bravos and I root for him now. He does his job with quiet dignity and doesn't shoot off his mouth. He plays with pride and heart.
I remember a game a long time ago after Dale Murphy had been traded to the Phillies. The Philles pitcher had plunked a couple of Braves so you knew Glavine would have to retaliate - hey, it's part of the game. Well, Murph came up and Glavine threw a 60 mph pitch that caught Murphy in the wallet. As soon as Glavine saw the ball hit Murphy, he started walking for the dugout, knowing he was going to get tossed. The best part was Murphy's ear to ear grin as he stood on first, laughing with Sid Bream (I think) , knowing Glavine had done his job but had done it in a way so not to injure anyone.
A class act, the two of them, come to think of it.

The Wrigley crowd was very classy. Imagine if he had won it in some half full stadium or in front of a bunch of ignorant drunks.
