This sounds like a problem that I had diagnosed several years ago. You may have a condition called sleep apnea. This means that during the night you stop breathing. Your body wakes itself up so that you start breathing again. This doesn't mean that you become fully awake when this happens. It does mean that your body doesn't get the deep, restful, rem sleep it needs because you are being woken up. I recommend scheduling yourself for a sleep test. You will stay one night in a medical facility where they will be able to monitor your body as you sleep and let you know if you suffer from this affliction. If you do, there are a couple of options. One is called c-pap. It is a machine that you wear over your mouth and nose at night that forces you to breath continuously. People that use it say they sleep so much better now. I went another route and had surgery for a deviated septum and nasal hypertrophy. The surgery didn't make me completely better but now 7-8 hours of sleep is enough for me at night. Best of luck with your problem.

How old are you? If you are between 12-21 you should probably be getting about 9 hours of sleep. Even if you get 9 hours of sleep there could be many other reasons that you are tired so much, you could not be getting enough exercise, you could be too stressed, it could have to do with the mattress you sleep on. Do you sleep in front of the TV, or go to sleep right after being on the computer or watching TV. These could cause problems with your REM cycle and you would end up being tired more often than usual.

The first thing I would do if I were you is stop sleeping in front of the TV or watching it before sleep, or doing anything with a bright light before you sleep also try to get 9 hours of sleep for a week or two, if this does nothing then try doing things that reduce stress and increase the amount of exercise you do (but DON'T over-exercise) if this STILL doesn't help then contact your doctor!

Edit after reading your comments:

I'm assuming that this problem continues during summer when you are gettin 9+ hours of sleep? If so then try and eat a healthier diet if you are not already, but really try not to watch ANY TV right before sleeping because the bright light wakes your brain up, so when you fall asleep your brain is more active than it should be, which results in poor quality sleep. I also suggest you ask your doctor.

How is your diet, are you eating healthy? Have you or anyone in your family had diabetes? When have you had a blood test?

how's your diet? If you eat healthy you won't be tired as much. And working out will also give you more energy over time. if you are doing those two things, then i'm not sure.

it's possible you have some sort of sleeping disorder. I would go to your dr, and see about going to a sleep specialist.
