Hobbes would eat Garfield alive (and have plenty left over!) How much combat savvy does it take to sneak up on a lasagna...? none! How many times has Hobbes stalked Calvin...? Hundreds of times! (Well, all right, Dozens, at least.)
I never cared for Garfield. Maybe he was funny twenty five years ago. Now, longevity is all he has going for him. But after being gone (how many years...?) Calvin and Hobbes could reappaear tomorrow and they would be an instant smash hit.

The Garfield strips would still take centuries to attain the humor of Calvin and Hobbes and the practical senses hidden in it....

hmmmmmmm that's a very tough one but I think C&H is just a bit better than Garfield
