Wang-Chung is a traditional dish usually found on the northern part of the mainland of Japan. It's mostly prepared with duck, but beef or chicken can be substituted. So the song, in essence, is telling everyone to eat wang-chung

Wang Chung was the band's name. It was also the name of a Chinese philosopher. That being said, I've no idea how that's fun.

The name Huang Chung literally translates from Chinese as "yellow bell", but refers to the standardized base pitch of ancient China. Early on the band summarized the definition as "perfect pitch" and later, on American Bandstand, which they claimed was the sound a guitar made.

they are called the wang chungs, so they were referring to partying like them i guess. they got that name because in ancient chinese philosphy, music was an energy-formula which realised the sacred power of sound in its own unique way. huang chung was the philosopher, so the music because known as this. then, turned english, "huang" sounds like "hwang" and dropped the h.
