After you lose your mucus plug, labor will generally start within 48 hours, so you're probably very close! You might start feeling contractions soon, or your labor may start with your waters breaking.
If you lose your mucus plug it does not necessarily mean that labor will start with your waters breaking. That actually happens only 10% of the time. Most likely you will feel contractions first.
Also, if you lost only PART of the plug then labor might be a week or more away. Some women lose it very gradually.
All the best to you and baby!

Hi there, well Im now 38 weeks pregnant and started to lose my mucous plug last friday. It wasnt a whole lot and it was only on that day, then during the week its just been very minimal. From what I have heard, you can lose your plug over weeks. Even those that have lost their entire plug at once dont always go into labor within days...it could still be weeks away. Plus, I have heard that the mucous plug can regrow itself! So if we think we are getting close, we really may not be because the plug could just be regenerating! But, being that you are 40 weeks, you are close but you could still go for another 1 or 2 weeks. Its really just too hard to tell, unless you have other symptoms as well. Are you dilated at all yet and if so, by how much?

You could easily lose the mucus plug a couple of weeks before going into labor. You may want to wear a pad for the next few days while the mucus is draining because it can get messy and smelly. It would also come in handy to absorb some water should your water break.

I've been losing mine bit by bit (theres a lot of that stuff!!) for a week now and still no labor. My cervix does appear to be progressing nicely at each appointment and that is supposed to be why we lose the plug like this. I personally don't have any blood yet so I am waiting like you on this. This will be my second so although I want the little guy to GET OUT, I know exactly what I am in for and so am a bit apprehensive. Good luck!!

I would say not too long now that would be the only accurate answer. Most of the time a few days the longest possibly a week. If you had a bit of blood in it more than likely it will be soon. I think I would make sure my bags were packed for the hospital thats all. Good luck.

hopefully for you the whole mucus plug came out. But mine came out a little at a time for about two weeks, so maybe in around 48 hours or maybe in a few weeks. Good luck and get some sleep. Motherhood is wonderful but tiring.

as icky because it sounds, it incredibly is dwindled white, yellow, green or all the above. in basic terms like mucous. Dont freak out although, it incredibly is completely well-known. some is additionally tinged w/a sprint of blood. All very well-known...you would be going into exertions everywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks. solid luck to you!!

Well if your water broke then you should already be at the hospital but if not and there is not water leaking or anything it could still be a week
