Because you let yourself into it and because you have that kind of mindset. Just remember "you are what you are thinking".
You become what you are thinking

At first, It is funny after I read the question, it gave a tone...
If I am to answer that, a person is at this point at this situation, because, something motivate the person to do what he does, an invisible string, to chase after it to its beginning..you will find answers... :)
well, but somehow, to look forward might be..what one could do and is the best to do for the reasons to figure out anything..because when you try to figure things out, you are probably using valuable time that you could do things, but probably, sometimes the time is needed for understanding and to remember why we have to do certain things..so..it became a personal thing..or not..

you could say "because its part of God's master plan for you to be there"
Or you could say "Fate has put me"
or possibly by means of nature and nurture through the infinite number of choices either by convenience or by person taste or maybe intervention from something or someone other than yourself you have randomly bounced from point to point to get to where you are.
Or maybe you planned it out very well and by being at the right place at the right time it happened.
The question is like asking "why are we here?", there are many theories and none can be proved.

You are where you are because of a complex mixture of chance, external effects, and personal factors including your ethnic background, upbringing, birthplace and education, as well as your psychological situation, including ideas, attitudes and ways of thinking unique to you.
