Situations like:
- When they are calculating money & are alone at wee hours. For safety reasons. Thn the money will be transferred either to another senior or straight to another safety box (elsewhere).
- When they are reloading stocks behind or in the inner part of the stores. No one to take care of the front area/cashier counter.
- If really no one to take care of the store, lack of staff & emergencies whn the last person really hv to go out the manager will advised to lock up & etc.
Sometimes 7-11, only hv 1-2 staffs only. Not many ppl. willing to work there. Tht's why outlets' closed down or move away.

well, 7-11 lock their doors at night even when the cashier is at the counter.
For security reasons.
They only open when a customer comes. They will use their own judjements to see whether which customers will be a potential robber.
-edit-
yea it is inconvenient.. but not many customers visit during midnights... so i think precaution is better than regretting

What if you had to leave for an emergency or something? You're not going to leave the place unlocked. Plus, I know some convenience stores have remote control locks, if they get robbed or have a thief in the store they can lock them in until the police arrive. Of course if a robber has a gun, you might want to let him get out. Locks don't cost much, you might as well have one, you never know when you might need it.

Would you spend extra money for a door without lock or just buy a standard 1.

I even wonder why they have doors at the first place.
***********************************
If it is for emergency, I'm not sure what kind of emergency that requires the doors to be locked. Fire? Robbery?
If it is to stop robbery, they will only lock the door AFTER they get robbed, not before. And still, what's the point locking? All the money is gone already.

It took me 6 violations to get my account suspended. As for 7-eleven, thats just the way it is.

I heard they got robbed quite often and thus the lock. It is better to have some precautions steps taken than none

this is what we call standard accessories when we buy doors. taking the locks out may take effort and money, so they just leave it there.
just like car lah, some don't need a cigarette lighter, but we still buy a car with the lighter
