I am not sure if Silkyworm has ever driven through the sea, but between Scotland and Germany is a bit of water.
If you want to drive you can drive to Newcastle, in the north of England about one hour south of the Scotland border and take the overnight ferry to IJmuiden (often called the ferry to Amsterdam.)
From there it is an other 2 hours to the German border.
If you want to travel from a town in the middle of Scotland to one in the middle of Germany, add about 4 hour each end.

Most used is flying, check the cheap air ticket sites for the prices, but unless you need to bring your own car, flying is by far the best, fastest and cheapest.
Count on 2 to 3 hours flying time, depending on which airports you use.
