How much extra money do you think you would have right now if you never spent your cash on anything that you didn't really need or want?

Think about all the times you ate when you weren't really hungry, or the times you've watched a movie in a theater when you've already seen it, or the times you've made an implusive purchase, etc.

What's your rough guesstimate on how much money you'd have right now?

Well if I can throw out all those things I bought for my kids -- Lord knows I didn't really NEED them.... I'd have 1M at least, probably more with all the compounding of saved money wisely invested.

To guesstimate that, I'd need to calculate how much money I've earned and how much I did actually "need" to spend on the very minimum of food, clothing, and shelter.

I'd say that I'd have less than I do now, since I didn't need to buy a house (I could have just rented, it would have been cheaper at the time) which went up in value before I sold it.

But if we don't count investments as "spending" per se, then I'd guess I'd have about $200,000 or $250,000 by now.

I think we think the same. For me, people should not spend their money like crazy and as if money is the only way to be satisfied in life aside from .....relationship.....

I don't have guesstimate - (new word???) - I think I'm doing good. I'm so relax!!!!

Honestly. Probably $50,000. Would I be happier with $50,000 in the bank or with all the little things I bought? Those little things have brought countless smiles to my face, to the faces of people I bought presents for and made my life more enjoyable. I think it's priceless and wouldn't change a thing.
