I have the above car. The air didn't work at all. It was dye tested this week and the garage said it had no leaks. They charged it and the air is working now. It makes a terrible noise when I give it gas and I think this is the compressor. Am I right. Any suggestions, the garage said it is okay, but I don't think so.
thanks in advance

It's actually an evaporator core, not coil, and while they are famous for leaking on that particular model, they don't make noise before or after they do it. The garage may have be right in that sometimes, when the compressor cycles, the clutch assembly, while spinning, will rub against a buildup of rust on the face of the compressor. This will give a grinding, ringing type of noise. In some cases, a penetrating oil sprayed between the two, like Howe's Lubricant, will not only confirm that that is the noise, but will stop it, at least temporarily. They have also had problems with the belt tensioners on those models, so, if the lubricant doesn't work, make sure to check the tensioner to see that it isn't about to let you down.

does it make the same noise with the ac off ??? then it could be the compressor, or the belt tensioner
