I'm just curious to see how many people believe in it. In my country, there's people like that (witch doctors) and when I went to the mountains and I was trespassing across a forest with my family while I was on a trip, finger prints started going all over my body after the hike. Our maid had to do some kind of (how should I say this) preparation. You do it when a dwarf does something to you. After that, I was healed. I kinda remember how to process goes, but I don't think i'm going to do it because it's unnecessary. And then there's other stories of such things. Do you believe in that? I also heard that a distant family member of ours knows one kind of healing enchantment in which she writes something on a piece of paper and does something with it to cure canker sores faster. I'm kinda curious to what it is...I get curious on many things since I love to learn. Back to the question, do you guys believe in such things?

Just a heads up before anyone starts getting mad, i'm Catholic and shall we keep the religion and stuff aside? I don't want to start any fights and I don't want people fighting. It's just the question that needs to be answered.

Terry, some different cultures call their magic workers different things. In my language, we call it differently but I changed it as close as I can to to the nearest english word I can think of. So please don't tell people to learn this and that when in fact, they know what they're talking about. You can offend some people that way.

If you believe that the true healing energies and knowledge come from the Powers of Good, then you must believe they can use anyone willing and humble to serve as a pure channel. Family roots may add to healer's confidence, polish and so on, but are not prerequisite for gifted healers. I have encountered 4 year old natural healer doing more good than some well trained sceptics with important healing pedigrees, and Dr.Usui had no healing roots yet helped thousands, perhaps millions, for example.
I hope it helps.

Yes I do. Someone very close to me has a grandmother in Mexico who is known as a healer and such. She is Catholic as well. My close friend's Aunt, the daughter of the grandmother obviously, has the ability as well, and my close friend does too. She has traveled to MX to get her grandmother to teach her more. I think it is something that people are born with and can inherit. I also think it is very interesting. Whether these things work by magic or the power of persuasion, they still work and make people feel better, so for those who think its bad, how can healing someone and calming they're fears be bad? Anyway, its something that deserves a certain degree of respect.

Yes lineage has every ounce of being passed down from generation to generation.
Take in for instance the birth of Jesus Christ. Even His lineage was kept a close eye on before He was born.
As I am a native american. There are many different belief systems within the native american tribes that are only passed down through blood lineage.
Roots mean a lot when it comes to any kind of power.
That is the only way I believe a person can get ahold of it is through lineage. Or shall I say also if it is in the lineage than the chance of the person being more powerful as a person with knowledge sorts with the family history can become because of just that very fact.

No one ever thanks magick for saving them in a tornado when all the neighbours got blown to buggery and Witch Doctors don't make anything like as much money as a lot of Ministers. Oh and unlike miracles..... and magick often does happen. But not always in the way you were hoping: “That's what's so stupid about the whole magic thing, you know. You spend twenty years learning the spell that makes nude virgins appear in your bedroom, and then you're so poisoned by quicksilver fumes and half-blind from reading old grimoires that you can't remember what happens next.” ― Terry Pratchett, The Color of Magic

I have seen things happen in the Peyote Church that I would have never believed. I think your blessed when you have the ability to heal someone, but, it's not the person doing it, it is God and the healer is the carrier of faith! I watched "A Haunting" and they always have a priest come in and bless the house from evil spirits. Once they had a Native American come in and he told the white woman to bless her own house with sage or cedar and an eagle feather. Now, I don't believe that. He should have done it!

I am open to all of it... because I know that I do not get any better healing from my doctor than I can provide myself with the right care.
Medical professionals must deny spirituality and faith as a method of healing because it has no hard science behind it... it's what they call conjecture or "theorizing".
The way I see it, if a theory has proven true for a few people througout history and no one has died for trying it... then go ahead, what are you waiting for?

There is no such thing as a "Witch Doctor." There are Shaman and Medicine Women. At least try to learn the Glossary of terms before placing a Post.

Yes, i do i believe that shamans can heal even cancer but so many people are skeptical that they do not realize how much a trained healer can do for them.

my believing or not is secondary. but i can give you explanation how is it possible. for the doer, when he acquires a strong notion due to his belief and confidence in one matter, he is likely to get control in such matter. when he is able to take control on that matter, he is able to use this matter on such people whose confidence level is low. however, he will not be able to use this matter on people whose confident level is equal or more to him. one example is, hypnotisation. who can hypnotise? one who has power(not physical power but confidence power) more than the person being hypnotised.
