If Barry Bonds breaks Hammerin' Hanks homerun record and they allow him to be put in the hall of fame after a few years of retirement. Shouldn't they let Pete Rose in? What is the big diff between taking steroids and betting? They both are wrong. Besides Pete Rose broke a record just as good and always attempted to do his best in every game.

Pete Rose should make it. What he did on the field was completely different than what he did off the field. I mean, since when did baseball put someone in the hall of fame, for doing something off the field-Never. You could be the sickest perso on earth, but as long as you can play ball, you should make it. That's exactly like sayin, "oh john doe, has above average stats, but because he is an a$$ hole outside the field, he should not make it. Finally, people deserve to go to the hall of fame depending on the stuff they do on he field, not off. Thats why pete rose should make it.

I'm not anti Pete Rose. I feel he should be in for his accomplishments ON THE FIELD. However what he did was illegal. Bonds taking steriods was not legal either, but they didn't test for it as hard a few years ago. He has been tested and has passed. That's not to say he didn't do it in the past. It seems people think he is the only one whose taken steroids. What about other hitters? What about pitchers? Don't they throw harder on steroids. What Bonds is doing is no small accomplishment? Its not the steriods hitting the homeruns. Its a talented hitter.
By the way should Babe Ruth be taken out of the Hall of Fame because he drank?

The HoF issue with Pete Rose is a done deal. End of story.
What happens to Bonds will not affect Rose in any way.

Bonds probably won't make it into the Hall either. By the time he is eligible, they will have passed an anti-steroids rule. With medical advances between now and then, a test could be developed to reliably detect the BALCO products BB used. It'll give the HoF enough evidence to ban him.

I would have to answer no to this one. What Barry Bonds is accused of doing (taking steroids) would warrant him a 50 game suspension only. Certainly not enough to take him out of the hall of fame. Only if he continues to fail tests would Barry start to lose a lot of votes for the hall of fame.

Now what Pete Rose did (gambled on baseball, sometimes on his own team which he had some influence on the outcome...), got him banned from baseball for life. this isn't some small infraction that you get a minor suspension for.... this behavior nets you a lifetime ban. no way should pete rose be allowed into the hall of fame.

maybe... just maybe if he had come clean when he got caught, it would be possible that they would be lenient on him now and reinstate him. but since he lied and lied and lied for all of these years and just now has come out to tell the truth (most of it anyway), there's no way that he'll ever get reinstated or elected to the hall of fame.

I understand why they didnt let Pete Rose in bedcause he gambled but that doesnt change what he did and he should be let in no matter what he did after his career as a player. No one can actually prove Barry used steroids so he probably will make it in but i dont think he should i mean its only been a few years and now barry sucks.

No, Pete Rose committed the cardinal sin of betting on the game while he was involved. He KNEW what he was doing. It is posted in every clubhouse in the game. It is discussed in spring training every year.

Pete is banned for life and after lying about it for so long, I doubt he will ever be pardoned.

His accomplishments are in the Hall-of-Fame, as they should be. His records ALL stand.

...but he will never be enshrined as a Hall-of-Famer.

You're innocent till proven guilty. Besides is there really another record as big as this? I'm cheering for Barry, I can't wait till he does and then retires so people can get over it! Then we can all watch A-Rod break Barry's record and it will be all the sweeter!

Pete Rose will never get in the Hall, technically steroids were not prohibited because they were not testing. You got to blame Selig for this fraud just as much as Barroids and the rest of the cheaters.

Shoeless Joe Jackson deserves to be inducted into the Hall of Fame before either of them. It was proven that he was innocent in the Black Sox Scandal; yet he is still banned from the Hall of Fame.

And Pete Rose is a convicted felon.
