Are you talking about a standing back handspring or a round off back handspring? The answer to both is: yes, if you learn how to do it when you are young. It is a level 3/4 skill, and is usually taught to 6 and 7 year olds. The Olympics compete on level 10. It becomes a little more difficult when you are older for the simple purpose that you tend to already have bad habits and bad habits can get you hurt in gymnastics.

In my opinion a roundoff back handspring is easier since you have more momentum going into it than going into a standing backhandspring. They are not that hard to learn but I would invest in going to a gym. Anytime you are going over backwards there is a posibility for injury you should learn with a spotter or a foam pit.

Well roundoff backhandsprings are hard, it took me long to get it right then when I did they asked me to add a back tuck.
It is hard when you can't get it, but then once you got it it is easy peasy. Just practice because after you got roundoff backhandspring you could add a second backhandspring or even a back tuck or pike!
Just practcie!!
