My G/F's car A/C has been acting funny. When i slow the car down the temperature of the air goes up and get gets warm. Therefore it warms up at every stop light. I put in some R-134 and yeah that made the air cold but it still warms up at when i drop below 5 mphs. I hope its not the compressor.

Anybody have any thoughts?

The Car is a 2001 Mazda 626 v6 if that helps.

I think it's the compressor's clutch that is faulty. It is most likely just an electronic problem with your computer that's causing it to disengage when the engine slows down. It could also be a mechanical problem with the clutch itself. I don't think there's anything wrong with the compressor. Another problem could be the a/c's condenser fan. It may be turning off for some reason. Maybe the alternator is not producing enough electricity at low speeds to keep it running.

So, the point is, it could be several different problemsand the only way to know for sure is to have it checked and eliminate one problem at a time. Hopr this helps! :-)

The A/C compressor belt either needs to be tightened or replaced. Rlatively easy to do yourself, if you have a litle mechanical experience. We had the same exact problem with 2000 626.

The system is most likely leaking refrigerant. If the compressor was bad you'd get no cool at all. Have it leak checked and properly recharged by a professional.
