i wanna add that i'm not for Houston i'm from New Orleans, born and raised. i'm defended us katrina victims because houston blames us for all the crime in the city when hosuton had a high crime rate to begin with, and houston says katrina victims need job when alot of people who are there ARE working. and the person who said about the fema parks? have u ever been in one becaus ei have been in many and it is not a breeding ground for drugs and sex, sorry you think that way. and the person from Miss. i included miss. this because alot of people think just new orleans people are in houston but no Miss. and Bama people are there too and so many people forget about them. they need help too, not just us new orleans people. the media only focus on new orleans because of the levees breaking

I can't speak for the people of Houston, but here on the Mississippi gulf coast, there are quite a few slackers who are taking advantage of FEMA, A majority of people still in FEMA trailers are living better now than before the storm, because their rent is being paid and as is their utilities, so they don't feel the need to get off their tails and get jobs. FEMA trailer parks are nothing but breeding grounds for drug dealers and prostitutes, it makes it hard on the older people who HAVE to live in those conditions
Further more, I have yet to understand why we were left out of all the media hype. As I was sitting in a hotel in Georgia, I will never forget the news footage shot on bourbon ST. They were jumping up and down saying how glad they were that it went to Mississippi, then not to much after that their levees broke....I call that Karma.
Sorry, it's nothing personal, guess I had to vent

As a native Houstonian I can only tell you the facts.

After Katrina the level of violent crime in Houston shot up and the murder rate doubled.

Basically many New Orleans gangs decided to pickup their turf war in Houston.

Dose that mean that Katrina victims are unemployed gangsters?
No, of course not.

Though what I will tell you though is those that were unemployed in New Orleans are for some "strange" reason still unemployed in Houston.

While those that did have jobs were able to find them here.

We do not resent people from New Orleans coming to Houston and finding a new home and a new job.

What we do resent is when New Orleans decides to dump its human "garbage" on our doorstep and expect us to deal with it.

I know that here in Memphis, where a lot of people also relocated to, the crime rate has gone up. Although most of it was towards the persons being moved here from LA and MS. I also have to agree with SouthernVixen, there are a lot of people that are living better now than they were before Katrina. They are taking advantage of us and the government. You and I are footing the bills for, it just seems wrong that they get to live and NOT work and I have to pay their bills.

Bush would have dropped the ball a splash on the Katrina disaster, yet do no longer purely element the finger at him. bear in suggestions that the governor of the state the disaster happens in could ask the federal government for help before they might step in and do something. in case you seem on the timeline...they did step in while she asked for it...days later. Finger pointing at Bush approximately Katrina would not help remedy something. possibly if people pointed arms at each and all of the people who knotted up a answer could be extra approximately. Oh... and for the reaction I have been given...i did no longer be conscious of hatred may be a numerical fee. shall we've a splash equation. 2 terrorists ^2power = 4 terrorists. (2 terrorists - a million lifeless terrorist)^2power = a million terrorist. Did the hot york circumstances coach your arithmetic?
